1. It's caused by a novel coronavirus; that means it's brand new, so actually it doesn't have a name yet.

3. We know about the more severe cases, people who develop viro pneumonia and end up in hospital.
4. It came from animals. It is believed that the source was a seafood market in Wuhan which also sells wild animals.
5. The most affected are people over forty. It doesn't seem to be affecting small children.
6. People who had underlying conditions. People who are frail because they have a heart disease or cancer already, since they're vulnerable and their immune systems are not very robust, so they're going to find it hard to fight up a virus.
7. It is transmitted from one person to another. Others come from animals, but not this one.
8. There isn't any treatment at the moment. You can't use antibiotics because they only work against bacteria, so they're looking for antiviral treatments, but none of the flu ones we've got will work on this because the coronavirus is different from the flu virus.
9. It's scary because it's a brand new virus and we don't know how it's going to behave.
10. 2% and many of those people have had underlying problems, so they could have died of flu. (Ebola and SARS had higher rates).
